Dear friends, family and fellow human tribespeople,
The honor of your full attention to my message is so greatly appreciated. In a world where we feel like we have so little to give, your act of reading this to the end is in itself the most precious gift you can give me so thank you in advance.
After 18 months of watching unimaginable suffering unfolding before my eyes in Gaza - entire families wiped out of existence, children deliberately being targeted in the head by Israeli snipers, journalists being systematically targeted and killed, doctors and nurses tortured and killed merely for committing the unthinkable act of tending to the wounded and dying, I had been rendered an emotional wreck.
Never in my life have I been so appalled and horrified by such wanton and gratuitous acts of senseless violence in the pursuit of naked power. The range of powerful emotions I have felt throughout this horrific ordeal I must say had for some time rendered me incapable of action. And then the realization dawned on me that, however badly I may have felt, it was nothing compared to the sorrow, horror and terror those families on the ground in Gaza, Southern Lebanon (and now spreading elsewhere across the region) have experienced during this period on a daily basis. They do not have the luxury of being paralyzed by apprehension as they must fight every day to stay alive.
As such, I am committed to doing my part to alleviate in whatever way possible the suffering of others and I am truly heartened by A New Policy as it is dealing directly with the forces in Washington D.C that have worked to facilitate the misery in Gaza and elsewhere in the Middle East. I am truly excited to invite you to join the sea change in American public opinion on the matter and help bring about a change in U.S Foreign Policy that is not only in our interest as Americans but also reflects a more equitable stance vis a vis those in the region.
